Looking for so help on my 1979 Z28 hood release, hood is lined up and when I pull the release it pops up but I have to hold release lever and lift the hood at the same time to release the second latch which is hard to do. Any ideas?

 

I also have a 1979 Z-28 .I always thought it was a bad design . I thought the 1978 hood release was better .Its cable operated in the upper grille .And its bolt in. But with the IMSA nose on my car .Im going to combine the inside hood release of my 1981 El Camino SS with the cable release of the 78 Camaro mJust a thought because its more secure that way,.
