1970 Turndown exhausts?
I am trying to register my Camaro in Europe as a veteran and it has been questioned because the turndown exhausts (picture) were supposedly not optional on these cars. Can anyone please help me out finding a brochure or something like that from the era which would show the turndown exhausts were an option for SS 1970 Camaro?

There's nothing stock about that exhaust system and I don't believe turn downs like that ever came from the factory on any year Camaro especially in front of the axle.
You should be able to buy a complete stock system online but it will be expensive especially shipped to Europe.
This is a factory exhaust for your car from the manifolds back,Camaros had a single muffler two in two out system.

Also, wouldn't the stock exhausts affect the performance?

It would not have been done at the dealer on a new car, usually done by the owner or at a muffler shop.
You can still buy all that in the aftermarket, the headers the pipes and the mufflers with turn downs.
It's all very typical of a hotrod exhaust system done the the 1970's and later and yes stock is more restrictive so less power that being the reason for the headers and short pipes with dual high flow mufflers (that type are called turbo mufflers typically).
Here's a set of stock exhaust manifolds VS headers in these pics.

Well it looks like it's been on there quite a long time but the car is over 50 years old so it may have been replaced more than once.

Your best best for performance and hopefully compliance would be a kit like this that comes out behind the rear axle.

Otherwise if they are sticklers about it being more like a stock system you'd have to go with something like this and have an exhaust shop fit the header collectors to it.

Good luck with it.
Where in Europe are you trying to register the car? Maybe we can find someone who knows more about compliance.
