Default TH350 to a 700R4

I have an 1980 Z28 with a small block and th350, well the th350 packed up. So I need a new trans I have wanted to put a 700R4 in for a while to have the overdrive. I was wondering if anyone here has done the swap and could let me in on things I am going to run into. I am mainly conserned about the driveshaft length and crossmember. I have an aftermarket shifter so I am not worried about that. If I remember right there were a couple of different tailshaft lengths available for the 700, is there one that I should be sure to get to make it fit better? What if any modification will need to be done to the crossmember?

Dont think your going to have that bad of a problem with the mounting. i just took a 700 out of an 86 and it looks to have the same style of mount as the older ones. The 86 has a 4 bolt crossmember that is like a flat plate where as the older models have piece of tubing. either way it shouldnt be that hard to tackle the mounting issue. I think the 700 uses a downshift cable instead of a vacumm soliniod for downshifting though.
