Reuse main cap bolts?
I am assembling my engine (307, mild upgrade to 200hp, cr 8.9), after cleaning, changing bearings, etc. Can I reuse the main cap bolts? So far they look fine. I know they are not expensive to buy, just takes a long time (and expensive shipment) to my place.

when I was building engines I always used the original bolts. never had a failure due to bolts

Same here, just be sure that you get the main caps back on the same ones you took them off of. Same with the rod caps.

I 3rd that. Those style bolts are reusable, it's the torque to yield bolts that aren't.

Thanks for the comments. Caps are marked, so should be fine.
I was stupid enough to buy a set of new small journal bolts...had to learn that small block is not small journal :icon_no: |
It was back in the day before the large journal rods cam along. We use to spin a 327+.030 back in the early days to 8200 rpms, and it stayed together.
