im looking at a 78 camaro for sale near my home. if used to have the 305 in it until he swaped a 350 (bored .30 over =355). he said that the 350 had about 350 horses until he bored it (now he saying about 380ish). it came from an 80's caprice cop car. and he also said that he had a turbo 350 on it...5 speed. i thought that the turbo 350 was only a 3 spd. can someone check this out?

 

also...hes runnin just pipes so what do i need to have a complete exhaust system. i believe he hes 3 1/2 inch

 

th350 is a three speed auto. how much does he want for the car? the exhaust would depend on weather u have to have it pass a smog test. if so u would need catalitic converters, and a cat back system.

 

he wants 1500 and im givin him about 1300. i live in indiana so i dont think there is a strict smog rule.

 

also.....what is the max. i can bore the 350 to? .8?

 

I have my doubts about the hp claims unless there is a lot more to the story.
Especially if he claimed it had a 350 turbo 5 speed.
That said if the car is pretty straight and a runner the price seems fair enough.

 

it looked alright...interior is beat up, so is the paint...but overall not bad. hes runnin just pipes so its louder than crap

 

An .030 overbore isn't going to net you 30 horsies. If it really had 350 to start with, and using the same 1 hp/cube ratio as claimed, then you would now have approximately 355 hp. An overbore isn't a huge hp booster.

 

.30 over is about all u want to go unless its for race only.

 

.040 over is the max. i would buy it. simply because it has a 350 because you could do anything your heart desires with a 350.
