Default Picked up a 350 to swap my 305

came across a 350 bored 30. over, motor is actually in good shape, inside looks clean. i'm still tearing it down to check and clean it up, hopefully have it up and running in a month or 2. also picked up a 3.73 posi with it this should keep me busy during winter (if it ever snows here)

need an engine hoist to pull my old 305 out, if anyone near the south chicago area has one tucked away in the garage i can borrow or is selling a used one, send me pm. don't really want to buy a new one, after the 350 goes in i wont need the hoist anymore

Nice find on engine and rearend! Is the plan to just freshen it, or build it up a little? What heads does it have?

You're wlecome! Pull the valve covers and post the head numbers, then we can tell you which heads they are.

You're welcome, glad you found a new toy!
The head castings were used on 1979-85 350 and 400 engines (the 400 went through 1980). 1.94 intake, 1.50 exhaust, 76 cc chambers. Just plain 'ol heads. You can narrow down the year by finding the date casting on the heads in the same vicinity as the casting #. Also check the block casting in the back on the bellhousing flange, and the suffix code on the front pad in front of the passenger side head.

600 cfm will do fine. If you can get a quatrajet they run very well. They get a lot of bad mouthing but they work !!

I agree with the 600cfm, in either Holley or Q jet. (vacuum secondaries!) I'm running a 600 vac. sec. Holley on the 350 in my Suburban, and it's a great carb for a pretty stock engine. Just headers and a small RV cam, with Edelbrock Performer intake.

I LOVE the Quadrajets... but I love the Edelbrock Carb too.
