ok so i have a 91 rs 5.0 and wen am driving around it like sputters like it acccelerates itsself but wen i floor it it does jst fine any ideas????

 

try new plugs first. check air cleaner.

 

thanku but already tried dat it only does it while its cold once its warm it runs like a champ

 

sounds like a air temp sensor, not real sure on the 91 but if u have one could be it or water temp sensor not water temp gage sensor. not sure u got one of them either. lol.

 

The TBI has an air cleaner that looks a lot like a 4 bbl air cleaner. There is a manifold air temperature sensor (MAT) mounted in the base of the air cleaner housing. Check and make sure that sensor is still connected and not broken, or that it's even still there at all. If it's bad, you should have an error code 23 or 25. Check your codes, even if your service light isn't on. I used to have a 91 RS that idled crappy and was less responsive in the low rpm's. I gave it a tune up, and it was the cap & rotor that did the trick. Has your c&r been replaced yet?
