Harmonic Balancer wont go on

ok.. do you know where i can get a crank gear installer for cheap or rent one... autozone doesnt rent them

You should be able to tap the crank gear the way you did, or with a steel pipe, without needing a lot of force. If you have as much crank showing, as how wide the damper hub is, then the problem is with the damper or crank. But if you have less crank showing, something isn't right with the gear install. That's why you want to measure the two to compare.

well the damper goes over the crank and into the timing cover... their is no crank showing yet the damper isnt on all the way and its stuck

Yes, but once the damper slides past the seal, you can't see how much of a gap is left between it and the gear. You need to measure how much crank is there against the damper hub, otherwise you're just guessing what you have.

so should i take the timing cover off and do it like that to see how much their this... ima take it home and put it in my laundry room where its warm so maybe that will help it expand if it shrank

if you want to get it off then you could try a hair drier on the hub and shield the crank as best you can. that way the crank will not expand with the hub so much. stuff something in the center hole so the heat wont get to the shaft. do you have a puller?

ok i thought it was stuck. you will be surprised at how much difference it makes just by heating the hub.
