Hey guys I need a radiator support and fan shroud for my camaro because it was originally a I6. I was wondering if parts off a 70's pickup would be compatible with the car. I pulled the radiator of a later 2nd gen Z28 but there was no shroud or support. Will I have to buy a camaro specific shroud and radiator hold down.

 

No, there are other GM radiators and shrouds that will fit, but the radiator supports wont interchange from a truck. I actually had a radiator from an early 80's BBC truck in mine for awhile, and the shroud should work too. Only thing you might have to do is open up your core supporrt if you get the wider radiator to let more air in. The core supports are marked out with a ridge where they need opening, so once you test fit the radiator you'll see how it needs to be opened up.
I've cut several on BBC swaps, and I use a jigsaw or sawzall with a metal cutting blade to open tham along the stamped ridge.

So today I went to the salvage yard and asked for the upper radiator support and shroud. The guy argued with me that it wouldn't fit because it was twice as long. I said I would take a chance and he continued to argue. Went to another and they said they could only sell the whole radiator support together. Its killin me. Maybe its time to give into ebay.

 

So what vehicle should i pull the fan shroud from? I need a new one but i dont want to pay $200. And what kind of adjustments would i need to make
