Easiest way to increase hp

I've been waiting for the right moment to use that one!
I agree though, we need to know what you have before suggesting what you want.

haha sorry i meant to put that in but i was doing homework so i forgot.
its a 79 z28 with the stock 350 5.7L V8
i have a 350 trans and a turbo 400 ( im not sure which is better)
i havent added any mods yet cuz im restoring the car but im at the point of putting the engine in so i wanted an idea of what i should do once its in. I would like to mod it but i cant do it all at once id have to do it a little at a time.

Best to do whatever you can before installing the engine, as some mods can mean a lot of tear down beyond the engine. Like a cam for instance. Really simple with the engine out, but in the car it's a real pain!
I'd go for a set of headers and a good exhaust system, plus a free breathing intake, carb and air cleaner to start. Getting the engine to flow well can really add power. A little more cam at the same time would be great too, if your budget allows.
Eventually a set of heads would just complete it all, and make everything work well together.

Everyone here want's more power but doesn't have much to spend lol,see this time and time again.
Listen up folks, save up some money and expect to spend it all and then some, more power costs money and lot's of it.
For instance buying a bigger carburetor alone will do nothing but eat more gas and maybe even rob you of power, you gotta spend some serious coin and get a better intake set up,better exhaust,a good cam and preferably a better ignition so it's a complete package that works together.
That's just the beginning but a good start, headwork or performance heads, higher compression pistons,a better crank and rods, performance oil pump and more on the inside is in order if you want real power increases.
At a minimum you need all the basic bolt on equipment, intake, carb, headers and exhaust together to make much happen,at least those items will wake up a stock motor some, adding a mild performance cam will round out the package and should be done with new lifters and a good timing chain set before you install the engine as mentiond in a post above.
