Default Transmission question??

Ok so my transmission has been messing up so I'm planning on getting a new or rebuilt transmission or even sending mine to get rebuilt! I was thinking what would be the best option sticking with mine and rebuilding? Is there a shift kit I can add to it? Or is there a better transmission I can aquire? As always thanks guys!

You can always upgrade, so much information and shops on the web it is mind boggling. What do you mostly want to use your car for? Racing, cruising, both?

I want it mostly for cruising but if I step on the gas I still want it to have good power! I have brothers with BMWs so I want them to have some competition lol

I was told something about a 700r4, and I have seen some 4l60e would those be any good? One better than the other?

If you presently have a TH350, then a 700R would be a good choice. It will give you a lower 1st gear for good launches, and overdrive to save gas mileage cruising the freeways. It will require that you shorten the driveline about 1.5", so consider that in the budget. You'll also need a matching torque converter, and a lock up switch on the throttle, or shifter to lock the converter when in 4th OD.
The 4L60E takes some work to make the electronics work, and I'd not choose it.

So can I add performance parts to my transmission to make it better?

Ok so I managed to get a 700r transmission wondering if rebuilding is a shift kit something I should consider?

I always install shift kits in any performance or towing situation, and only Transgo for my vehicles. I've had such good luck with Transgo that I wouldn't consider anything else. If you have even beginner's level mechanical skills, and follow their instructions, you can do the shift kit. Their instructions show how to do it either in the car, or with the trans upside down on a bench, so very good instructions.
