TH350 in my '78 wont shift...
So i just installed an edelbrock intake and carb. We put everything back where we thought it belonged, took her out for a test drive and NOW she doesn't want to get out of first gear! Oh, btw, before the installation of the intake and carb the tranny was working great.
It almost feels like at certain RPM (around 1500) it shifts into neutral. Now, I can manually shift her from 1 to 2 (B&M ratchet shifter) when going up hill and on straight away but once I put it in drive it's like its in neutral again.
I've been reading A LOT of info in forums about the th350 not shifting and I have two questions: 1. Where is the vacuum modulator? 2. Where is the governor and what does it look like?
I'm not a car expert, especially with transmissions, and this is my daily driver so I need to fix her! Any help would be greatly appreciated!

The fact that it worked before you did the intake and carb swap tells me something was missed or not hooked up right. The vacuum modulator is on the passenger side of the trans. Make sure the modulator vacuum line from the manifold (NOT connected to the carb) isn't split anywhere. Also make sure you have the kickdown cable adjusted correctly, pulled out all the way at WOT and not before. If you have to, disconnect the cable from the carb and check it's position when you pull it out all the way while somebody else mashes the gas pedal to the floor.

Hey Camaro69, I was hoping you read my question Thank you for the help. I believe the kickdown cable at WOT isn't fully extended....it has about 1/2 inch left before the cable gets taut. I'll try to adjust it to your specs. I'll be working on the car Friday...I'll keep you posted!

Well, you were absolutely correct. The vacuum line going to the modulator shifted off. I guess it happened when we tried to connect the manifold vacuum. As of right now she shifts nice and smooth Thanks for the help!
