Needing some help id a t10 trans
I purchased a 1978 camaro z28 without a transmission, and have been looking for a t10 4 speed to go back in it since it was a stick shift car. I found a 4 speed t10 I think but want to make sure it is the correct one for my vehicle. The numbers on it are 1304065903 mlt4465 5 5 81

The 903 means it's an aluminum case Super T-10. 5 5 81 is the casting date, May 5, 1981. The grooves on the input shaft will tell you what gear ratios it has: Borg Warner Second Design ST

How can you tell for sure if it is for a chevrolet? I honestly am clueless about borg warners and trying to scrap money together on a tight budget (also restoring 51 chevrolet pickup and a old vw sandrail) and don't want to buy the wrong trans. I couldn't find any top numbers, it was blank there and the only other numbers I find are on the bottom and they are either fc4 or fpc4. Thanks so much for your help.

The Super T-10 was only used in GM "F" and "A" body cars. I don't know of any distinguishing features, other than the presence of a partial VIN to show what kind of car it was put in.

If it's a Super T10, it will fit your Chevy. If it's aluminum (and sounds like it is!) it's a Super T10. If you have a clutch and pressure plate already in the car, be sure the clutch disc is fine splined to fit the Super T10! If you didn't have a Super T10 before, the old disc will be coarse spline and wont work.
