Default Urgent coil over question

Has anyone on here installed coil overs in their second Gen?

I am having a hard time putting this together because the lower a arm doesnt look like its going to be strong enough. Im sure if it wasnt coil over companies wouldnt design the coil over like they do but ill show you what i mean.

This picture shows where the bottom of a stock spring would normally go, it would be supported all the way around the outside of the spring cup evenly distributing the weight making it very strong.

The coil overs are strictly supported by the T bar in the middle of the spring pocket. I am worried that the coil over is going to punch through the steel in the bottom of the a arm when it is installed.

If anyone has any input please let me know.

Thanks

I would agree. It doesn't look like anything I'd feel comfortable with, and I'd make it stronger to help support the coilovers. I'd cut out a 1/4" plate to fill the spring pocket and then drill holes to line up with the two mounting bolts and the center hole. It can be put over the arm before mounting the coilover to spread the load better and strengthen the mount.
Or you could also make two half circle pieces to sit on each side and do the same thing.

If it were any other brand I might say that. But Hotchkis arms are on everything using QA1's. I have never heard of a failure. I cxan put you in touch with Mary Pozzi. She is about the fastest autocrosser out there and sponsored by Hotchkis. She has them with different coil overs though.

I think Mary Pozzi is using Ridetech suspension. I may be wrong on that but I know she was using our triple adjustable shocks and the Tiger cage.

I know she has a Hotchkis three link out back. You may be right on the ride tech though. She is a regular on Nasty and an editor for Camaro Performers Magazine. Shouldn't be hars to figure out. I don't have a friendship with her but she has always answered my questions when I PM her.

I have a QA1 Procoil setup in the front of my 71 Camaro, so far so good, I know what you mean though, it puts all the weight onto those 2 bolts where the shocks bolt on, I am hoping QA1 did some testing on this for us
