My dad bought this car for me when I was born. 1978 camaro lt. 305 dog, but it's sentimental.

A year ago, a dumb idiot sprayed wheel cleaner all over the enamel paint. Ruining the paint. I'm in the process of getting it fixed/repainted. Once I come up with the 8 grand to fix it....

$8K sounds awful steep,I'd shop around a bit more.
I don't know where you are but a clean stock type paint job on a straight car like that I'd think could be done for around $3K and certainly no more than $5K.

The problem is, the acid in the wheel cleaner sank the entire way down to metal. They need to strip the car completely and start over. That's why it's so much.

Understood but it still seems high, maybe you can put some sweat equity into yourself by sanding down everything you can yourself?

8 grand does seem a bit steep, but as long as your happy? It looks like a real clean car, congrats on a fine classic.
