I would stick with the solid. The guy I bought my suspension from swears by them. Poly and rubber allow movement. With sub frame connectors he says its mandatory. Most people I have talked to say they haven't noticed a harsh ride and a big improvement in "feel." I actually haven't hear of anyone going back to poly or rubber.

By the way my car has solid mounts, but I haven't gone for a spin yet. At this rate I think your gonna beat me.

Having ridden in cars with all three styles I can tell you the solid mounts will really transfer every pothole, and bump in the road, especially with lower profile tires that can't be run lower pressure to absorb some of that rough road. Imagine everything from the wheels up being metal to metal. It's really a lot of vibration and noise transferred, and just not what you'll enjoy for a daily driver.
Even poly will transfer a good amount, but as I mentioned it's a good compromise of performance and noise/rough ride.
Now if performance is the main goal, then by all means go with the solid mounts, as Damon mentioned, they really give you a better fell of the road.

Thanks for your guys input. I actually didn't even considered poly mounts before. That makes sense that they would be a good in between (rubber and solid). I'm kind of torn between the three now lol. but I guess for now since I already have these I might as well use them. I can always change them later I guess. thanks again guys.

77nomad > Damon Clever name lol I actually read you build thread months ago before I joined the forum. Yours was the first build/project thread I had read. which I am glad I did it gave me the idea to start taking pictures so I could do one too. a little tid bit n e ways. who knows when it will actually drive I guess we'll have to see... for now the goal is to have the engine start by July 1st. Which in most cases wouldn't be that difficult however I'm putting in a 97 LT1 I got years ago. It's anything but "painless" lol I still have to finish the custom wiring harness I'm making out of OE 97 wiring...
DSC00785.jpg?t=1302754585
body harness with has IP fuse box, DLC, IPC, BCM, head light fuel pump connects and what not.

Box on the left is engine computer harness and the other fuse box under hood stuff off 97 Z28. and the box on the right is what I cut out of body harness hanging on the wall. I cut out stereo amp and speaker wires, power windows, air bag the the entire Body control module(BCM) wiring and the ABS stuff I wish I wouldn't have done that I could have totally made abs work on this car with the AFX spindles... I may try and piece it back together. The only 2nd gen with abs how sweet would that be? it's pry just pipe dreams. we'll see how motivated I get.

Those pics of wiring are kind of a flash to present what I'm working on now. I still have much more to share from last month.

Default Rad Support

A little radiator support restoration action. pretty much the same process as before sandblast, then paint it.

Ran out of paint so didn't get radiator support painted Im still waiting for paint.

The next few pics you guys will pry laugh I think it's pretty funny looking too. It's pry kind of dumb to try this since I have a lift but It was in use at the time. So this was my compromise to getting under there and scraping off some crud before I blast it.

I also found the order sheet for the car when my grandparents special ordered the car for my dad

LOL even the deal wrote CamEro. Actually I'm following a thread over on Nasty and that dude is putting ABS on his. Its also got IRS and will essentially be a fourth gen with second gen skin. 2nd GEN - 4th GEN? - NastyZ28.com
That is one of the only build threads I have ever fully read. I almost crapped.

That's really cool finding the order sheet! Amazing how much it cost back then! $4600 is more than $1000 more than what the original owner paid for my '71 when it was new, even with the cost of the 427 swap thrown in!

Yeah that is a cool build for sure. very interesting. It will be pretty sweat when it's done. Yeah I guess by saying the only 2nd gen with abs was a dumb statement I have no way to prove that lol. One of the few with abs is what I should have said. I'm not sure how serious I am about the abs thing yet.

Wow so your saying we got ripped off lol. I guess that just must be the price increase over a couple years.

I was just bustin your ***** a little. I'm a smart ***, not an A hole. So don't think I was trying to call you out on that. Cool? I would love to see ABS done. I don't want it on my car though. I am trying to save weight.

No, was just amazed that they went up in price that much in a couple years! That's like a 30% price increase.
