Thats an L88 hood. Thier great if you can get the gaps right! Lots `of time the glass is made so poorly you can never get it right without rebuilding it!

The L88 hoods look great, but the one problem is just what I see on your's; they hold water when sitting in the rain. Not a big deal, as most people don't drive or park their classics in the rain.

thats the car that the hood came off of lol a 79 berlen****ta with a v6 lol i figured it would give you an idea of what it looks like on the car and we did get a pretty good shot last night i went and looked at a 350 today out of a 75-77 truck with a four bolt main got a victor jr intake last night for a steal on ebay my plan is to bore out the 350 to a 383 then go with my 700r4 tranny and rebuild my 411. im leaving the center counsile out and go with a 700r4 b&m shifter all the interior is going to be black paint im thinking is going to be silver with black striped i want to make that classic hotrod look. lots of plans but i really need the funds to start rolling in. got a call on my 305 and 350 tranny but he only offered me 400 not even close to what i was asking i got an old 72 blazer that ill throw it in if i cant get rid of it.

It's not as easy as a bore job to turn a 350 into a 383. It is a stroke job! You need a crank, dampner, flywheel block machining etc. Over haul the 350 for a solid runner and enjoy!

Nice project you have there, great work so far. +1 for what rydeer said, they sell kits to convert 350's to a 383 stroke so you don't have to do any machine work putting in a 400 crank in. and for the 305/350 combo im not sure about around you but good running 305's around here can be picked up for like $100 and maybe $200 for a good used th350, just sayin.

keep up the good work
Joe

$400 is pretty darn close to what I see a good 305 engine/trans selling for around here. I don't think I'd have passed on the offer, unless you have someplace you can use both.

i guess i was thinking for as much as a rebuild costed on both of them that they would sell for a bit more maybe ill counter offer him 475 and see what he says. as far as my 350 goes i think ill take your guys's advise and stick with a nice rebuilt 350, cant say ive ever heard of a 383 without any machine work im relatively new to all of this too tho, do you think summit sells the kit? im thinking if i can get a nice heavy 350 out of a 1 ton truck with the heavy crank ill order some good aluminum heads (considering the price to rebuild heads is about as much) and run it until i can afford something bigger, i do have a 454 out of a 96 pickup lol

I wouldn't worry about what the engine comes out of if you're planning a complete rebuild.
Summit and Jegs both ell complete 383 crank kits that have the crank, rods, pistons, rings, etc., but a 383 kit runs around $1500, and unles you're planning serious power you'd be better off spending $200 on a 350 kit with everything you need, except cam and lifters.
With a good pair of heads, a cam, and the kit you can easily get in the 350 hp range, and maybe more!
