ok helpful picture. Ill get under there and see what I can find. The shifter looks VERY similar to that in the way the shifter itself is mounted and the way the rods are and everything. Ill have to see if it has any ID on the side like that one. Im pretty sure my trans casing is aluminum with a steel side cover. Does anyone know where I could get a decent shifter cheap ? stock would even be fine.

That is a pit pack. I thought your shifter looked weird. Mr. Gasket handle, I don't think I've seen one of those before. I'm still relatively young though. Like I said, I don't think there easily rebuildable, Hurst shifters that is.

This is what I have. If that helps. $9.97 for the pit pack at summit. Hurst Shifters 3327302 - Hurst Pit Pack Shifter Bushings, Buttons and Clips - Overview - SummitRacing.com

Hurst Shifters 3917308 - Hurst Competition/Plus Shifters - Overview - SummitRacing.com

Hurst Shifters 3738609 - Hurst Competition/Plus Installation Kits - Overview - SummitRacing.com

BTW this is one of the only things on my car I can say I truly beat on.

Just took her on her longest drive yet (in my possession) . . . 4.2 miles hehe. drove it back from the shop. Only passed 4 cars on the way home and of course one was a cop. Luckily for me he paid no mind and kept going. Car only has 1,3,4 gears right now due to bad shifter bushings but it was still enough for the drive home Def a cool feeling to drive her.

Enjoyed seeing the pics. These are tough cars with many relatively cheap available parts -- except the plastic interior parts like the sail panels and vinyl door panels. My '79 has almost 300,000 miles and has never had the heads off. Biggest things have been replacing AC compressor et al., alternator, starter, tires, paint and recovering seats. I found some of the interior panels at my local pull your own used parts place.

Wonder if we can get some photo updates!

Don't you have something "fresher" than yesterday? Like an updated pic from the last 10 minutes? LOL

Got good news yesterday though. I will have barn storage for it over the winter. It wont sit in the driveway under a bunch of snow
