I actually have no idea. Wiring is kind of a weakness.

The voltage regulator has 2 prongs, not three. You sure you're not looking at a 2 prong plug with those 2 black wires connected together? The red wire is the "exciter" wire, which connects to the car's electrical system, your existing harness will have that wire. The other (factory single) wire from your car would go to the other prong on the regulator to work a voltage gauge, or idiot light. Looks like that aftermarket wire harness is giving you provisions to hook up the stock idiot light (if so equipped) in addition to hooking up a separate gauge.

That sounds about right. Thanks.
Here's a better shot.

Got into the engine today. I had just started on the left head removal when my ratchet slipped off of the head bolt and I somehow punched the firewall. needless to say that Im done for the day.....

Btw. Its heaps of fun to remove the hood by yourself. lol

Don't ya know to set the ratchet to pull if you can? If not then use your palm to push. Learned that from a mechanic when I was about 17. Very few busted knuckles.

Doing a hood by myself was always frustrating with these long hoods on a 2nd gen Camaro until I figured out how to make it easier. I tie a rope from the hood pin at the front, and then tie it to the ceiling of my garage with slight tension. That holds it up while I remove the bolts, and then once they're out I can untie the rope and lower the hood so I can lift it off.
Still a pain to handle it by myself, but easier to bolt/unbolt and not try to hold it at the same time.

I did my first at the tender age of 13. My brother's both had camaro's I was the car guy though. They let me do all the work like swap out a steel hood for a fiberglass. Funny reason too. My oldest brother's car had a I6. It blew so we (I) swapped in a 292 from his pickup. Using the truck mounts the engine sat so high the hood wouldn't close. So we knew a guy with a L88 that had a Mustang scoop bolted on top of that, BACKWARDS. It was so tall. It worked. Pop the hood to see a single 4"x1" chrome air cleaner was too funny.

Long arms like an ape really help handling a hood alone! Mine are long enough I can put the nose of the hood at my belt, and stretch across side to side to grab the hood and set it in place easily.
