I used to have a platic yoke that had no internal splines to fit a TH350, but it disappeared and now I can't find them anywhere. Now I use the styrofoam cup like Damon mentioned.

Thanks for the tip guys. I got a big bag of dry-sweep...40 pounds worth for about $6.50. I knew that the trans dipstick was leaking, but I did not think it was this bad. Just when I thought the PO was done surprising me. I want to say that its high temp gasket maker.

Be sure to NOT to use regular RTV inside a tranny, or on the tranny pan gasket! Tranny fluid will soften it up and turn it to goo. Been there and had the leaks to prove it!
For the pan I use the ATP tranny pan gaskets designed to seal when ATF comes in contact with them. ATP gaskets have a self sealing design that stops small nicks or cuts and seals them. Permatex makes a special RTV specifically designed for transmission seals and gaskets.

Ok, I'll pick up some permatex in the morning. I was under the trans hump removing the flywheel and noticed some oil that looked to be seeping from around the left side head gasket. I pulled the plugs and there all dry and looking good. I thought that if the head was not sealing, it would have coolant coming out from around it, right?

Might be the valve cover leaking and not the head gasket. Oil really gets pushed around by the fan under the hood, and can give the look of coming from plces it isn't. Best to spray it all down with some brake cleaner and get it super clean. Then start the engine and check with a flashlight and mirror to see where it's really coming from. Oil rarely leaks from a head gasket.

Ok, thank you. I made sure to give the gap for the intake/ oil valley a good line of RTV. As I've seen oil leak from there before. I did not think about the wind from the fan. I'm so hopeful that I dont haft to pull the head.

Today was a good day as far as repairs go. I got the new main seal installed and I like this one alot more. The old seal was rubber. The new one is nylon and also came with a thin plastic cup to help it fit over the end of the crank. It made the hole process alot smoother.
I'm taking a brake as this time of day is the hottest in my garage. I'm thinking about what to do with the trans cooler lines. I cut the stock ones and have the connectors to fix them, but I would
rather switch to some type of hose that will allow me to run them away from the headers as they currently are about 3'' away from them. Any thoughts on which kind of line would work best for this?
I've also decided to remove the heater core as I dont plain on driving her during the cold sessions. My mickeys dont seen like they would do much on snow...lol

The trans is in place and bolted to the engine. Finally....
I slid it back under the front and placed it on top of a 2x6 board that was long enough to stick out the sides.
I placed one end of the 2x6 on a 4x4 block and used a floor jack on the other end to lift it high enough to slide the scissor jack under it. I've never got one back in by my self...lol
I cut my old oil filter open and only found a tiny bit of old paint.
I slid it back under the front and placed it on top of a 2x6 board that was long enough to stick out the sides.
