Cool, thanks man

i just have about 3 or 4 shims laying around from when i bought the starter 4 or 5 years ago (never used it). It's just a stock 350 starter i guess, i went to canadian tire and asked for one or a 80 Z w/350. I remeber it had instructions to install but, i don't remember lol.

I honestly have never shimmed a starter in over 40 yrs. of messing with Chevy V8's. I hear about people shimming them, but never figured out why, because they always bolted up and worked fine.

My wife's first car, when she was my girlfriend, had a shrieking starter. She hated it and was embarrassed every time she had to start it. Then when she got another car her Dad bought it off of her and immediately fixed it. I don't think she will ever forgive him for that. lol

LOL I dated a girl that had to crawl under the front and tap on the solonoid. Felt bad that night it was raining.

I forgot all about that. I've had a few cars I had to do that to as well. Didn't last long though.

Any girl who knew how to do that, and was willing to climb under the car, would be marrying material to me!

We took different paths in life. I still see her around. The party life is really starting to take its toll on her though. Not nearly as attractive as when we were in our early 20's.
