Default Seat belt installation

So my 78 LT came with most of the interior stripped out, I知 trying to get it at-least safe to drive and that means seatbelts. The originals are just that, so frayed and not serviceable at all.

So I ordered a new OEM set and low and behold I find an issue. The sets I ordered are different from what I致e got on the car.

The new set the female buckle for the front seat mounts to the seat itself, but my seats do not have this mounting point, instead there are bolts in the center tunnel where the old buckle was installed.

I can install the new buckle here but the mounded plastics cover has to bend the wrong way to fit. It is secured but looks terrible.

is this a modification for a Camaro? Are my bucket seats not original if they don稚 have the belt mounting points on them?

I値l submit pictures shortly.

This is what was installed on the car when I got it, or rather it was in the car in a box with the rest of the seatbelts.

Is this thing original to this car or is this some sort of after market part? It mounts to a bolt that is in the drive shaft tunnel, and there are no mounting points that I can see on the seats themselves so I'm wondering if my seats are also not original... Feedback?

That looks about right for your car, not aftermarket. But the plastic sheath was taken off, and the belt and bracket was painted. The retractor assembly bolts to the rocker/threshold, not the seat. And the long bracket on the retractor belt bolts to the ceiling behind the drivers seat, near the sail panel.

This is what I知 talking about. The buckle I知 holding is what was with the car. It had been bolted where you see the new one, that is the center tunnel for the driveshaft. This seems incorrect to me

. As far as I can tell every seat belt set I see for this car is like the one on the left and as far as I can tell it should be mounted to a missing mounting on the seat. Maybe I知 misunderstanding but this seems wrong how it is currently installed. The plastic moulding should not have to be bent if it was correctly installed here.
