If it was anything but flat black i'd say use a spray gun, but since it's flat black it's tough to not get it right.

Summit sells the paint for an easy to shoot mix.I've seen a brand on there that is already mixed with hardener and you can buy and paint. They are pre-mixed and available in different colors.from Dupli-Color I think.

Go to the store and get two spray cans of Krylon satin black, and go to town with it. Another brand you could use is Rust Oleum BBQ paint, which is made specifically to take the outdoors. I think Krylon might have a BBQ paint now too. With tax, you'll be under $15. Since it's only a "temporary" paint job, I wouldn't go spending more money on a professional brand paint.

ok well i decided to not go with that L88 style cowl hood but i found another cowl hood that would it my car..this guy locally is selling his 4" cowl hood because he got a fiberglass cowl hood for his show camaro. The one he is selling is a flat hood thats had a hole cut in it and a fiberglass 4" cowl was riveted on. I wish it would welded or fiberglassed on (whatever its called) but it still might work. I would need to paint it but he said the rivets can be seen..but if he had it on his show car, why would he want rivets to be visable?

do you think i should get it?

its only $125 btw

These are some pics of "temporary" paint jobs that a friend of mine did with Rust-o-leum and Husky spray guns from Home Depot. I think he's in for less than 100 bucks so far.

These were done in his garage. I think he used the "chain" trick to keep the dust down.
