Wiring harness fail
Hey guys, i'm starting to lose my mind on this wiring harness lol.
1980 Camaro Z28, when I got it the engine/transmission were gone and the steering column was busted up (just got it back from repair shop) so I never got a chance to turn it on and I was impatient to start stripping down the car (bad idea) and now everything inside is completely stripped down and I have pretty much everything out of the engine bay. I'm at the point where the engine/transmission is almost ready to go back in however i was thinking I should probably check the wiring harness whilst everything is out so I started on the inside. Well now everything is unhooked and me being the idiot that I am forgot to label most of the wires. Not only that but theres a good 8-10 wires that were never hooked up to anything and are just dangling randomly everywhere. I'm having a hard time figuring out the fusebox because theres several fuses missing but I have no idea what amps, and there are a few wires that plug into the fuse box but some of the connections look like their missing a wire (most likely one of the 8-10 random wires). The idiot before me tore up the gauges pretty bad by replacing them with cheap aftermarket gauges for all of them except the speedo/rev count.
I can not for the life of me get the windows to roll up. Checked the switch and other than a lil soldering it was fine. I bought a wiring diagram online (very very vague) and found that my main concern is the pink wire which supposedly leads to a 30 amp fuse. I cant trace the pink wire all the way to the fuse box so I have no idea what fuse it is.
I temporarily hooked my steering column, temp controls, rear window defrost, and headlight switch to the wiring harness to test some of the connections. The only life I could get out of the car was the taillights came on when I turned on the headlights, the courtesy lights worked, and the buzzer sounded when i change key positions. It would be really nice if I could just buy a whole new harness however that is not in my budget range right now. Any advice/help would be greatly appreciated.

If I was starting from zero, the first thing I'd do is find a wiring diagram that shows the various colors at each place, such as the fuse block, steering column, and firewall plug. Then once you know the colors at each point you'll have a better chance of knowing where to start connecting, and which plugs might remain unused for your particular car.
