Default Wireing Harness for 78 SC Camaro

I am putting a TH700R4 with the 350. (Pulled it from an 88 Silverado, carbed the motor but need to analog the tranny). I have seen an oaky way with butt connecters and switches but I hear for 40 bucks, you can get a painless wiring harness for that tranny. While I was at it, I was thinking of getting a wiring harness for either the whole body or just the engine compartment.

Any suggestions?

Nope, two reasons.

#1 I have three harnesses

#2 I'm an electronics major, if I can't wire my own car I'll get laughed out of school.

I'm not know major but I used to work for an alarm company and also ran phone/tv...etc (low voltage stuff) and build computers. Should I just try to copy the gauge of wire and make my own harness. I'll probaly solder that use but connecters.

If your gonna run stock gauges I can help you there. You just have to rearrange the wires that go in the plug in the back of the cluster and have the right sending units. Aftermarket gauges would come with their own wiring if they were electrilal. Mechanical gauges are a easier yet. No cutting at all.

I wanted to go the stock gauge route. My Dad said the aftermarket looks funny in a vintage car. Especialy when you put in the leds. However I would rather see gauges than indicator lights for the little circle stuff. But if it is a hassle, I could go the light route.

If you get the U14 cluster (option number for gauges) its a gravy swap.

Well I did some research on U14. So it more or less just plugs in? With the exception of rearangeing the wireing harness. So where do I find the U14?

Junk Yard or ebay. They sometimes come up in a swap meet on Nastyz, but people think there gold for some reason. The mounting tabs are know for being broke right and the ones that aren't fetch some dollars. The junk yard will be the cheapest. I got 40 bucks for the 85 mph/ big gas gauge cluster that was in my car because the tabs were perfect.
