Windshield clips
Starting to tear out old rusty components of my 80 Z (it's supposedly been sitting much of the time since 1993)....took off aftermarket traction bars, replaced shocks...doing brakes next. As I was getting set to install new windshield molding, I noticed some of the clips were broken. I do have new clips...but it seems like the old ones are embedded in the windshield caulk/adhesive. What's the best way to replace the clips? I'll try to post some pics soon.

Not much you can do but get a razor knife and try to cut around the clip to get it freed up. The excess caulk doesn't seal the windshield, so it's not a problem removing it. Once you've got it cut almost free you can grab it with pliers and wiggle it until it comes off the stud.
Some of my studs broke when I removed the clips, and I had to drill and tap for 6-32 flathead screws to install new clips. I loctited the screws to seal and secure tham. But the pins can't be redrilled and tapped with the windshield or rear window in. I had to remove both to replce pins, so be careful and hopefully none will break!
