will they fit?
It depends on the rims offset, but, yes they will fit. I've got reverse offset Cragars on the rear of my 79Z28 with that same size tire, however, because of the offset, I have to have air shocks just to keep the tires from rubbing the fenders. Check the pics in the Photo galery under project Z, that'll give you an idea.
What is the back space on the rims you have ? I think you need 3 3/4" or less backspace to fit them on the rear of the car. If I'm wrong someone say somthin cause thats the size I want. I have 235/60 14 (or had) and there was only about 12mm space left between the frame and tire wall, this was with 4" backspace rims. If you know how to check backspace you can go as wide as you want. If not let me know and I'll tell you how.
If your rims have the 4" backspace they should fit if you are going with the BF Goodrich tires (not sure with other brands) I tried a set on mine and the fit fine, close but fine. Would still go with a 3 3/4 backspace just in case some day you want to go with a 275 / 50.
DON'T USE WHEEL SPACERS. The load will be carried by the wheel studs instead of the axle register. There is not enough support. The backspace of factory 8" rally wheels ( 4 1/2 rear and 3 1/2 front I think ) should fit okay. Check with a wheel manufacturer on backspacing. They will tell You what will fit. The tire size is no problem.
i got 275/60/15's on the back of my 78,no problem.rims are 5-star cragar's with a 4 1/8 backspace.i believe this is a standard backspace unless you specify different.all my suspension is new, that might make a difference to.i got 235/60/15's on the front and it sets level.my tires are cooper cobra's
