Default What would you offer

I am looking at an 81 Z28. It looks like it has seen better days but the owner has assured me it runs and drives just fine.

This is what he has told me:

Pros

New Goodwrench 350 crate motor (< 1,000 miles)
When engine installed:
[ul][*]New Edelbrock Performer-Plus cam and intake[*]New Edelbrock carburetor[*]Rebuilt TH350 transmission[*]Lifetime replacement starter[*]New brake booster and master cylinder[*]Long tube headers into 2.5" glasspacks[*]Four Firestone Firehawk tires (90% tread left) [/ul]

Includes all correct ground effects (Drivers side not installed)
Functional cowl induction hood
Original factory warranty papers
New battery
Headlight/taillight blackouts

Cons

Structural rust in driver rear frame rail
Brakes are very weak (need bled?)
No headliner fabric
No parking brake
No keys (replacement lock cylinders cost $40)
Old cylinder and steering lock-pin removed so car is drivable now
Broken into to steal stereo while in storage
[ul][*]Driver door handle broken[*]Passenger window broken[*]Radio and rear speakers missing, Cerwin Vega door speakers still there[*]Lower dash damaged around stereo [/ul]
Here is a pic:

He said he is willing to negotiate on the price and I was just wondering what you guys would offer him?

Thanks
Mike

I wonder why the guy put a new motor in it and and did nothing with the body did he get tired of working on it and I would ask to see the paper work on all the things that he has put in the car I would also look under the body to see how much rust there is and especially the floor pans and trunk pan and rocker panels and I would feel out the guy to see how much he wants for the car. thats my opionion good luck.

He has it listed for $1500 but has already come down to $1000 after a few e-mail.
This thing is over 4 hours away from me so I am trying to get all my ducks in a row before I even go to look at it. I am only going to drive the 4+ hours once. If it looks good when I get there I will make him an offer and load it on the trailer. I just dont know what a fair offer would be.

I am thinking of starting off around $500-$550. I have the cash to buy it but dont want to spend more than I ave to, if ya know what I mean. I am willing to go up to $1000, I just dont know if its worth that much.
