What did you do to your camaro today
Well apparently although my shifter is Hurst the linkage is not. LOL
The inside diameter fits over the rod alright but the bushing wont fit in the levers.
I'll have to drill the levers out to make them work. Oh well.

painted lower and upper grille, painted steering box, repainted one fender (ran out of paint for other) and got the radiator core support in primer. I also had my car towed today to shop to put my engine in and weld in frame connectors. engine should be here on Tuesday

You're making progress in leaps and bounds. Won't be long now.
Hey Pablo, that may be all Hurst, but an OEM Hurst. Hurst made shifters for Chevy, and I'm not sure if they used the same components as they did in their aftermarket shifters.
Well just shy of a whole month, and I just got my rearend back from the shop! What started out as a simple gear change turned into a nightmare! He originally thought it was a 8.5 GM 10 bolt, then he was sure it was a 8.2" 10 bolt, so I went out and bought a whole rearend from a '65 Chevelle to get a 3 series carrier out of.
Then he told me he didn't have a ring and pinion in his parts for a 8.2" so I bought the 4.56 R&P from the guy who had the Chevelle rearend. It was new and cheap, but really lower gears than I wanted.
After a few more calls and some excuses, he told me he was wrong, and that my rearend was not a 8.2", nor was it a 8.5", but it was something weird he'd never seen. Semed to be the same gears as a 8.2", and that's what they measured, but a 8.2" 3 series carrier would not fit!
He found a set of 3.73 gears that would fit my axle, but no carrier, so I was apparently screwed. With my Austin going into the Roadster Show next week, I told him to put the worn out 2.73 gears back in if he had not found a solution by Wed. this week.
Then Tuesday night I was snooping around Ebay and came across ring gear spacers to shim a 2 series rear so it will accept a 3 series or lower gear set. The auction was from Summit, so I called them and talked to their tech guys. Told them about my strange rear axle which is from a full sized Canadian Perisienne(sp?) The tech guy at Summit knew all about them, and said he'd send me the ring gear spacer to make the 2 series carrier work!
Well they shipped it next day air on Wed. and the shop got it in today, and I went and picked iot up! Just finished putting it under the Austin, so now I've got the 3.73 gears I really wanted, and tomorrow I'll bleed the brakes, fill the gear oil, and it will be ready for a test drive before it goes to the show Thursday!
Cutting it really close, but it worked out just in time! The guy at the shop felt pretty bad about the whole mix up, so he took the Chevelle rearend and the 4.56 gears as payment for labor, which I bought for $150. He originally told me $200 labor, so I got off cheaper, and wasn't stuck with the parts.
He also gave me the new ring and pinion for his cost of $75, so it all worked out great for me! Once the show is over I'll pull the cover again, and install the Powertrax locker so it wont be a pegleg!
I'm sure glad this saga is coming to an end! Time to move on to other things that aren't so frustrating!

Hey guys, I'm back after changing ISPs. Your axle saga seems to have work out for the better Vall. Glad the guy made it right with you.
I haven't got the Camaro home yet. But I did get the garage wired and put some cabinets up. I also got a parts washer and some heat rockin. I can't wait to get the car home. I'm moving in next weekend so I have been neglecting the Camaro and haven't had and spare cash to buy parts. I got 1200 buck wrapped up in friggin paint! I HATE MOVING!.
Anyhow, its great to be back on here wit my fellow enthusiasts and one joker who needs his but whipped.

Put the lube in the rearend today, and bled the brakes. Took her for a spin and all I can say is it scares me! It'll break them loose in any gear with ease, and gets a little sideways if I stay in it too long! Gonna take some getting used to, but I love it!
Before I was pretty sure the Camaro would give the Austin a good run for the 1/4, but now with the bigger accelerator pumps, a little tuning, and the 3.73 gears the Austin is wicked fast! I got a permanent smile on my face all day!
Hope the weather gets better soon!
