I've inherited a '70 which I was told was an RS SS. It's been stripped down and pulled apart. I have attached a pic of the ID plate. How can I tell what it was and what colour/trim/driveline it should be? thanks heaps!

I'm not very familiar with the second generation production numbers, but I was able to find this site that might help. The car was built in Los Angeles in the second week of May in 1970. The color is Autumn Gold and the interior is a Sandlewood standard bucket seats. Doesn't look like there is a way to determine the RS/SS trim package or the drivetrain from this tag.

RS will be tuff to prove without original documents, If you have the original numbers matching engine that would be poof of the SS. The engines they put in the SS's where not available in non-SS's. if you don't have the original numbers matching engine then I don't see a whole lot of reason to prove if its a SS.

look above heater box behind dash or on top of fuel tank or stuffed in the rear seat cushions for a build sheet, without it you can't prove anything on these cars, just about everything could be special ordered if you had the right dealer connections back then.
