.025" down there. Not crazy, just stock. Add .040" or so for your head gasket and now you got a 1/16 of an inch. I agree not decked. You know you don't put a degree kit in an engine right. Its just a wheel that lets you verify cam timing.

Right, but it comes with a dial indicator to find TDC if I'm not mistaken?

It may or may not. Heres a proposition for you. The guy across the street is a stock eliminator record holder. Anyhow every year he has a tool sale with everything under the sun. I got my dial indiacator the a few years back, i know he has another one. I was there yesterday. Like $10-15 for one with a mag base. If you want I'll go get it and you can buy it from me for no profit.

That would be fine with me, you got paypal? Does he have the cam degree wheel too? I'll cover shipping too, just let me know a total.

I'll wander over there tomorrow. I took the kids down to US 131 for the Thunder Nationals today. Rained the whole F'in day. I'm so bummed. No refunds just rain checks. I think I'll hit the Gasser Wars because Vall has me hooked.

Anyhow, my neighbor is a great older guy. I'll see if I can get him to fire up the Le Sable. Its a stock eliminator record holder at 12.5x with the 307 still under the hood. Thats over 4000 lbs getting it done. Its nice to have people like this for neighbors.

Yes I have paypal. IDK about a degree wheel..
I got a Snap On seal/bearing punch and a valve spring compressor for less than 20 yesterday morning.

Not a problem, I'm not in a hurry, but I would just love to learn to build an engine the "right" way. So by having one of these, I should be able to exactly find TDC and put my cam right where it should be. My FIL says that he does it without one, probably by "feeling" it, and for all I know that may be fine, and I may be going overboard, but better to have and not want then to want and not have.

I use a dial indicator to find TDC and then I can make sure the balancer mark is right. The Proform balancer cover I bought a few years ago was 30* off.
