Default Weatherstripping help

So I'm gonna buy all new weatherstripping tomorrow. Any help from people who have done it before?

Just in case anyone else wants to do it, a complete set is $160 on 1aauto.com. Free shipping. It's normally $300. Window sweeps, door seals, and trunk seal. I just need to learn how to do it now...

I have'nt seen thier set,but watch what you buy.I have heard from alot of people who have had problems with cheaper weatherstripping, some say it tears easy when installing, some say it does not fit good, and all have said it cracks and gets brittle after just a few years.Like i said i have not seen the set you mentioned,it may be a good brand,so this is just a word of caution.

*EDIT*I just looked on thier site, and it may be a good set, since it does'nt say who it's made by i dont know for sure, but it says it has a 10 year warranty,so let us know what you think when you get it,and get it installed. If it turns out good then that is a very good deal.

Seems like most people tend to use Metro Weatherstrip. That is what I'll be looking for when the time comes.

The warranty is good, but it warrants it from failure, not guaranteeing it's soft and seals well. Even if it fits well it may not be as soft as it could be, which will make things tough to get a good seal between glass and rubber.
I'd ask them the brand name of their product before buying and check that maker's record for fit.

That seems to be a common complaint, is that the cheap stuff doesn't allow doors and trunk to close properly and will actually hold to panels out too far so it doesn't look like a smooth line.

i think it would be better than nothing. my window sweeps are pretty much non existent and the door seals are sticking out when i close the doors. i wouldnt mind the trunk being a little hard to close. I have an 81 that didnt come with a spoiler, i put one on and the spring in the trunk seems too weak to hold it up very well. so it slams shut all the time. quite a few bumps on the head from that damn trunk...

a new spring arm would help that issue. or take yours off, put one end in a vice and bend it back a little so theres more twist when its open

Don't get weatherstripping just for the sake of getting some. Get the right stuff the first time.

This is the kit you want to get.

Pete at FBodyWarehouse is a great guy. I've spoken to him a few times on the phone. He has a bunch of forums related to second gen trans am pontiacs, and he just recently started http://thecamaroclub.net/ forum. It really hasn't picked up yet though, still really new.
