I was watching Mecum Auto Auction on TV before work as I always do. There was a NICE 80' Z28 survivor w/ around 40,000 miles. The bidding was $17,000 for this car. For those who say our cars aren't worth restoring... SHOVE IT!

This one sold for $13,000

This bad boy went for $20,000

This one sold for $17,000

I just thought I'd help those who wonder what are cars are worth.

That's not that much though, I mean if those cars are all original and have had no work done that's great but with the prices of restoration parts and paint and body work not to mention the car investment it doesn't leave alot of room for profit.
But it's cool that they had 2nd gen camaros on a car auction show I watch barret jackson sometimes and honestly I don't think I've ever seen a 2nd gen camaro on that show.

Used to be you couldn't give a rubber bumper away. 5g was a real nice car. Now 10-15g is getting to be the norm. There was a T/A not that long ago that had real mods done like my car and that car went for $43,000.

Nice! But don't forget, an original unrestored low miles car can be worth considerably more than a restored one that "shows" the same, no matter what year the car is.

I guess the point is it takes time for anything to appreciate in value and it looks like that time is coming up for the late 2nd gens. I agree with what some are saying though. For a person like me who wants to build a car, it can be more expensive due to shop fees. Where as if you had the know how, a paint booth, the right tools, etc. there could definitely be a potential profit. I don't plan on selling though, in 20 years i want to be the 43 year old guy with pride in his car that says, "i have had this car since i was 20 years old". That would be well worth all the money i put into it.

see..that's awesome! I mean, you have more history with that car than you do with you own children (as far as "time" is concerned).

Pretty true, except for my oldest son. He's going to be 41 soon. The others are younger than the car! But once he was on his own I've had more time with the car than him!

Hard to find our kind....A rare crazy breed......Well done BB427......I have a feeling that in a straight line, I would be second, again...Hahahaha

I love the later model F- bodies..78 to 82.....Z/28's and trans Ams....Nice Cars..
