Hey guys,
I just picked up my 73 camaro and was told it was a type LT (Vin is 1S87H.....). Has the standard front end. It has been a drag car for a long time; however, I started to research some of the vin numbers, codes, etc. ans here is what I found.
Looks like the original color is a med or mulsanne blue. has an a/c dash that looks to be dyed black but there is blue under it. I was told that it was a blue on blue car. Here is where it gets fun.
I confirmed the title number with the vin and everything matches ok.... its a 350 car from Norwood. It does not have the original engine BTW.
Has the small front bumper fangs instead of the larger ones with the bumper strips.
Checked out the cowl plate.
Says:
ST72 12487 NOR XXXXX
TR 786 26A
11C A51
It says ST72? Now the build date is the third week of November and the cowl panel does not look to have been replaced. Also the cowl tag has the original style rivets on it.
The 26A paint code for 1972 and 1973 are both blue
I know the interior was different design but it was black with blue custom cloth.
Since its a late 72, could it possibly be registered as a 73?
If so, is this rare or common?
We are probably going to put the car back on the street and if this is a rare piece, I may restore it.
Thanks for any help!
Mike
