Ok, another vacuum question. I just did a disc brake conversion on the front of my newest family member, a 68 lemans. (no, its not a camaro, but Ihave a couple) Has an original"sprint" overhead cam straight 6 cyl 250 cid motor, w/4bbl.I went from a fully manual drum to a power disc front. I had to put in a "T" connector and split the 3/8" rubber vac. hose to have a line to the power booster. No power. Feels like manual brakes. Can't feel any vacuum. Am Iasking too much from the available vacuum? Is this motor too oldor to small to produce enough? Should I just buy an electric vacuum pump (expensive) and be done w/it?

Did your booster come with a check valve? You must have a check valve to hold the vacuum in the booster. This may sound stupid, but here goes. Are you certain the line you cut the tee into has vacuum? Make sure it goes to the intake manifold. Also, it doesn't happen very often, but maybe the diaphram in the booster is leaking.

 

Thanks for the response. Yes, it has a check valve, it was on the booster, when I installed it There is vac on the other side of the "T" connector, but not much. Nowhere near the vac inmy 350 camaro. I finally called SSBC (manufact.) who told me Id need at least 16 hg of vac for the booster, and this eng. probably wasnt able to produce it.
