can i use a headliner off a 81 firebird on my 81 camaro? somebody local is selling a headliner from his firebird and i know that firebirds and camaros are pretty much the same but just making sure it fits before i get it.

also its white and my interior is black, can i use vinyl paint on it? and will that be visible?

 

You can, but if your's is the hard panel you'd be better off removing it and recovering it with black vinyl. It will have to come off anyway, and it's cheaper to go to a fabric store and buy lightweight vinyl and recover it.
Just get a piece about 6" longer and wider. Then use spray contact cement on the panel, and lay your material over it. work it down all over for good contact, then let it dry and reinstall it.

 

the person says it has metal rods or something behind the headliner..is that the correct headliner for a 81 camaro?

 

Does your Camaro have a soft cloth liner, with rods? You should be able to feel the rods at each seam, if your's has them.

 

i dont have a headliner in there now lol

so im looking for the headliner set up to put in..so i dont know if its supposed to have rods..does yours?
