Default Transmission Problem

I noticed my transmission wouldnt engage when i put it into gear. I would have to wait a second and then it goes into gear and i can drive. Today i was going up a hill and my car started to smoke! i pulled over and popped the hood, there was smoke coming out and i noticed that there was transmission fluid coming out from the transmission dip stick. any ideas of why this is happening?

That's a sure sign of the clutches going bad, which creates heat and excess pressure. Time for a new tranny.

+1, If you know how to rebuild them yourself then it aint no big deal. If not, then you just have to pay someone to do it for you.

You'll get a better answer if you post the question in the "3rd Gen" forum, not here.

What? All that does is keep the car from starting in gear. If the engine starts in Park or Neutral it's not the neutral safety switch.

Here we go again. The blinker fluid may be low. Which reminds me I gotta run out and get a can of spot weld, BRB.

Not only that the neutral safety switch is electrical and can't be adjusted…
