Default Transmission crossmember

I have a 78 Sport Coupe Camaro that I am throwing in a Carbed 5.7 (Former TBI)/700 R4 from an 88 Silverado. It appears that there is about an inch of difference in the bolt on that back end of TH350 versus a TH700. I am also having difficulty because the Camaro was a rolling shell (just duel exhaust besides the body), I have nothing to compare to. It appears that the tranny sat on top off the cross member on the pickup where it may have hung on a car.

I know I have to move the cross member but where does it bolt to the body/frame and does it hang or sit on top?

Can somebody please post a picture off their undercarriage (no pun intended)? A 350 will do because I can go from there. A 700 would help more. Open for suggestions. Just building a daily driver with the notorious Chevy V8 power to have some fun, but not too much.

The crossmember sits on top of the frame, and the trans sits on top of the crossmember. Camaro crossmembers are a round tube with a drop in them to allow them to sit that way. You'll see two holes in the subframe to get to the bolts and nuts to bolt it in on each end.
Here's a picture of one that's been modified to drop it lower for a Tremec 5 spd., but it's the same unit without the drops on the ends:

you will have to modify the cross member ot the frame for the 700r4. I have been reading a lot about doing a 700r4 swap. It seems that the bolts are about 1/4 inch farther back. You may need to open up the holes ion the cross member.

Yes, the cross member sits in side the frame between the frame and the body. You have to fight to get it in there. The dip goes down.

you can see mine is this picture.
