Default Tilt Column

I have a non-tilt column car and would like to switch over to a tilt can someone tell me if a newer style Camaro (85-99) tilt will work? Or a will one from 75-81 fit?

I believe the 75 to 81 will fit. I am not aware of any difference.
I would look close at any 79 or new because that is when the dash was changed.

I haven't noticed any difference from 74 to 78 as for the column and wiring.

81 is different, i tried to put an 81 tilt in my 78 (non tilt) and the column wouldnt bolt to the intermediate shaft. i had to take the shaft also but it did however hook up to the steering gear box.

Didn't the dimmer move to the blinker stalk in 80 too?

I would guess several things moved in 79.

Not sure about the direct bolt of the camaros. I just did mine (1971) and used a 1996 Corvette steering column, It did need some mods. but nothing drastic. Tools I needed were a die grinder (cutter), wire feed welder. The hardest part was modifing the steering shaft between the colunm and the steering box. I just came into access of a column out of a 1985, the nice thing about it is it has tilt and extension. I will try to take photos and cover the swap in detail if interested.

if the Newer Column has the highbeam on the column its an easy fix.......just extend the wires from the floor to the switch on the column ( provided you want to and it works). I had to do this only in reverse on a 87 chevy PU when it was stolen and the Column was damaged. No matter what I tried I couldnt get it to work properly so I opted to go old school and put a foot swich in it.
