Default Throttle Body Spacer?

i have read on this forum that throttle body spacers are worthless hunks of metal, and i have read the same in other forums and such, but every time someone asks the question if they should get one, their car is Fuel Injected, i heard that the throttle body spacer actually does help to some degree on carburetor engines, and the bigger the carb and engine the more it helps, well with my 350 and rochester 4bbl i was wondering if it would make any difference at all, and if so, how does it help with carbs? i read how it is supposed to help with FI, but idk if it is the same for carbs, thank you.

A carb spacer is supposed to do two different things, depending on which kind you have. An open style is for higher rpm response, and a 4-hole style is for bottom end response (better torque). As an exaggeration, look at a tunnel ram intake that some nuts like to run!
Are you going to feel an "oh wow" difference with either carb spacer? I doubt it. But one benefit (for a summer car) is it keeps the carb cooler if you use a phenolic spacer, since it helps to insulate it from the intake manifold heat.
