Default T-Tops

I'm new to this forums site and i don't even have a Camaro, i hav a 66 mustang, HOWEVER, my cousin has a 79 T-Top camaro that i am helping her fix up. Right now we are having problems with the t-tops staying put while we drive. They rattle, dont fit snugly, and the latch has to be taped or else they come undone. Does anyone know of any way to fix this? Is there any way to adjust them so they stay put while we drive down the interstate? BTW, the passenger T-Top is from a 78 Trans Am, i dont know if this makes a difference, but this way yall know. Thanks!

The weatherstripping helps the leaking, but it doesnt help the way the T-Tops fit on the car. We have already done this but are still having problems with the rattling and what not.

Well in a way it does help the fit. if u have old weatherstripping then the fit will not be tight. That would also cause the t-top to be loose. If ur having that much problems have u looked into buying new ones? Not sure if they sell them or not.

One thing to look into is buying grommits for the t tops. They fit in the hole on the t top where it attaches to the car's body. These hold the t tops more snuggly and they are pretty cheap. Try yearone.com, 1aauto.com, or classicchevroletaprts.com. As far as the latch I couldn't tell ya, sorry.

On another note, does anyone know how to tell the difference between a Hurst t top or a Fisher t top?

Literally here to figure out this solution in Oct 2022 haha. The passenger side I think is missing something at the rear part where it connects to from the glass to the body over the passenger window (not the inside center of the body. I'll try to snag a picture. I don't know what the piece is called so maybe someone can identify it. I'll post pics shortly in this thread.

So my question is this. When the handle is down to release the t-top, it releases. When putting them back on and tighten them back up; are these doo-dads supposed to go into something? Also there is 1 linkage that is disconnected but doesn't seem to line up? Do I just "persuade it" with the screw?

Thanks in advance!
