Per your email, it sounds like it's a 1970-81, so any of the ball joints and control arm bushings will work within those years. Same for coils and leaf springs.

I think the only real issue you may ever run into is the outer wheel bearing is bigger after 79.

Yes, and the good part about wheel bearings is they all have numbers, so you can cross reference the numbers before purchasing bearings.

i really appreciate the help you all gave me...i need to get this thing apart and the chassis done by spring...going with air bags on it so springs will be a thing of the past..you know if anyone makes tubular control arms already set up for bags?

Air ride technologies makes them for the 70-81,there may be a few other places that do too,i haven't really looked into them, just seen those in the jegs catalog,so not sure who else though.

This is great. I came to this forum as I have a similar situation. I have a Camaro front clip ( K member, Control Arms, Upper Control arm cross piece, Spindle & Brakes) that is part of the frame on a 51 Chevy truck.
Was told it was a 1979 but had problems when it came to replacing front suspension components ie bushings & bearings. Then told it was probably a 1980.

Are the bearing numbers sufficient? Right now the control arms are off the frame so can't give you hub to hub dimension.

Would spindle casting numbers help?

Bearing numbers are sufficient to replace bearings. Any decent bearing dealer can cross reference the numbers and get you new bearings and seals. The numbers wont get you the year though.

Thanks 1971 for info. Do you know what other differences there might be between 79 & 80 as far as suspension?
I am modifying the radiator mount so really the only parts I'm concerned with would be:
Control Arms & their bushings.
Spindles
Tie-rod and steering link

The main reason I am asking is I need to replace the bolts that hold the upper control arm rod to the frame. Found a place selling the nuts & bolts as a set but they claim the 79 is different than the 80?

I didn't know of any difference in control arms bolts. New one to me.
I did a quick search at Rick's Camaro web site and he lists 70-79 as the same, but after that different, so might be something changed for 80-81 years.
