Wow, that doesn't look bad at all!! I was contemplating this vs. powder-coat, but how much did you need to cover the entire sub-frame? I was looking at the prices, and that stuff isn't cheap, so i am trying to compare the costs. The powder-coat dude told me $400 to blast, prep, and powder-coat and have it back in 7-10 days.

So 2 quarts would probably do the entire sub-frame? Did you use just POR-15 or did you apply the Chassis Black on top of it? Did you just sand and clean for prep or use the Metal Prep spray? A friend of mine rattled canned over the POR with gloss black and said it turned out pretty good, i just don't want to be scratching it all up with every nick and bump.

You won't even need a quart. I coated the entire full frame (3 exposed sides) on my 69 Vette, and used less than a quart.

Wow, it covers that well? Alright then, i will probably be doing that instead of spending the $400 on powder-coating. I can use that in other places and the wife will be happy about that.

Be sure to wear gloves, long sleeve shirt, and a hat. When I painted mine, I did it on a lift. But I made the mistake of wearing a short sleeve shirt, no gloves, and no hat. Ehhhhhh big deal, any paint that might get on me will peel right off (so I thought). I got dripped on something fierce, and didn't realize how much till it was too late! Three hours soaking in the tub and picking away at it, finally got it all off. It's some tuff stuff!

yeah it stuck to me also. It wears off in 3 r 4 days. There is a prep from por that you want to use. I wire wheeled first and cleaned with lacq thinner. Then used thier stuff. You won't need an over coat on the por. It shines nicely.

I did my Austin's entire undercarriage and frame with a gallon of Derusto satin black. Thinned it out with acetone, which also hardens it. Started by brushing it in every nook and cranny, then mixed up more and sprayed everything underneath. I put on my coveralls and a painter's hood, then goggles, and kept it pretty much off my skin.
After driving it all summer I'm really impressed with how it held up. Not a single chip or nick, even where I've worked around it and hit it with tools. I think it was less than $35 a gallon, and I only used about half of it.

So, i finished sanding, prepping and PORed my subframe today, well, the top and sides anyways. It actually turned out very nice, no brush strokes, but now i have black hands after washing out the brushes! DOH!!!! Will finish tomorrow and let it set while the UCAs and LCAs are being finished disassembled and then off to powdercoat!! Will post pics when i can take a better one!!
