Default Starter Wire

Trying to figure out where a wire goes. Its a short one comes out on the passenger side of the block on the back ofthe block and itintersects with the 2 red wires coming from the alternator andthe small wire that is on the same post on the starter as the positive battery cable. When I had the battery hooked up it touchedthe valve cover and shorted out (with the ignition off)itself and thesmall wire that connects to the same post on the starter as the positive battery cable (one of the ones it intersects with). It had abig black plastic clip on it. I think its what is keeping the engine from turning over.

the red wire should be on the same post as your positive as your battery cable. there should be another wire (possibly purple?) that should go to the "S" terminal on the selenoid

I am kind of confused by your original post though?

The wire that im trying to figure out where it goes touched he valve cover and shorted itself and the small red wire that goes on the same post as the positive battery cable.
