Sport Coupe

RE: Sport Coupe
Not very. If you know if the heads are original you could check the head numbers. That would be the easiest. There's a good chance that the block number's all covered in grease and dirt and isn't visible...

RE: Sport Coupe
Okay, I'm getting aggravated, If the sport coupe code is Q, and the sport coupe is not a Z28, as you say, then what is the code for the Z28? Don't tell me that it's the S code because that was the code for the Type LT and later on the Berlinetta. and GM lists no other codes. 1Q87 was the only prefix I have ever seen on all the second gen Z28's I've ever looked at, including the 79 Z28 I own. Just so you know I also own a 79 Berlinetta and the prefix on that car is 1S87. The RS and Z28 are cosidered sport coupes and carry the Q code. If you motor is a stock and untouched 350 then you should find either 186, 624, or maybe 882 heads bolted on it. In 79 the fifth charactor was the engine code L was the 350 and G was the 305 which usually came with the 2bbl carb. alot of guys did 4 bbl converstions to these motors.

I think it is somewhere on the data plate, but, I can't find much info on it. My Z and my RS both have the 1Q87 prefix but only the Z has the black trim and headlight bezels, it also has a thicker front sway bar and came with the five spoke steel rims wraped in 225/70R15's.
