Speedometer cable question, electronic to mechanical?

Thats the inside end right? That goes into the speedo with a clip. Then the nut on the other end that everyone described.

that is whats under my dash, the nut that everyones talking about idk where that is, havnt looked

but yes it clips in the speedo not threads on. does the original one clip in?

The nut is down at the tranny side.

It holds the cable into the transmission. If the tranny doesn't have that you'll need to find a adapter to cange the VSS signal to a rotational drive for the speedo. None of it has anything to do with the gauges.

I think what got thi confusion started is you were talking about your mechanical cable not working with the electronic speedo output on the trans. Then you showed us a pic of the cable end, and we thought you were showing us what you were talking about. Is there a reason the speedo end is off, or was it already off when you got it?
The speedo end on later 2nd gens is a clip held, while my '71 screws on to the speedo and the trans.

I may still be confused but, My car is a 76. Here is a pic of the back of my dash. My finger on the clip thing and my cable. I can't get to the tranny end of the cable now. It is a 350 and screws on.

I'm confused too now! You have a clip and threads? I don't see any threads anywhere on that speedo? Looks like it's a straight clip on to me?

The tranny end has the slip nut that screws it. Sorry for the confusion.

Are We anywhere near his orig. question.
