something is wrong with th350
So, the other day i had a problem where my car was having trouble reversing. I had to put it between park and reverse, not quite clicked in to either one, and hold it there to reverse. I brought it to a shop today to see if they could tinker with the shift linkage and they fixed that problem. charged me like 10 bucks so no big deal there.
The problem i am having now is the transmission is waiting a little too long to shift into second. I have only driven around town at around 20mph so i haven't got in 3rd yet. But when I'm doing about 20mph it will rev to about 2000rpm before i actually go anywhere and i will get all the way up to around 3000-3500 before it even shifts into 2nd.
I have a 2400 stall converter and the tranny is stock. Any ideas of what could be causing this?

I thought it was more for converter lock up. it seams the higher the stall speed the more r's you gotta turn to get it moving. My boss's Demon is to low and loads up the motor at stop lights. I've seen detent cable adjustment and modulators cause this issue.

Is your vacuum modulator hooked up correctly, and the detent (kickdown) cable adjusted right? The vacuum modulator, governor, and detent cable all work in unison to control shifts. Has your trans been modified, that you know of?

transmission hasn't been modified and everything, including the torque converter, has been working great for the past 2 months. Only the past 3 days the transmission has been acting up. I'm thinking it might be the shift linkage because they fooled around with that today and it fixed one problem but created another one.
I just dont know if the trans was messed up before and when they adjusted it, it corrected everything and finally made the torque converter work correctly..or if they just didn't adjust the shift linkage correctly and fixed one problem but created another.
I have no idea, i just don't want to bring it back to the shop and pay more money for them to look at it and realize this is how the car should be performing. Also would too much transmission fluid cause the transmission to act this way?

You really need to take it back to the trans shop and explain that you didn't have this issue until they adjusted the shift linkage. It sounds to me like you have another ajustment issue, but not moving until it gets to 2000 rpm's isn't likely from a vacuum modulator, or kickdown cable.
A good torque converter, even if it was 3500 stall will move the car forward long before you get to 2,000 rpm's. The stall speed is merely the point that it's fully locked up, or full pressure on the clutches. A torque converter isn't a mechanical device, it's really like a pressure pump, so it begins to put pressure on as soon as the engine is started. It just doesn't reach full pressure until a set rpm range.
