Something Old, Something New
Hi Gang, its me again. You helped me out with our fuel delivery problem, and after a whole season racing and having our fuel pressure dropping going through the traps, we finally found the problem. We took out the cartridge in our aeromotive 100 micron fuel filter, pulled the sintered bronze filter in the earls 40 micron filter. Still having problems we did a little more research and found the Holley fuel pump also has a screen on the inlet side, which is really small and is really fine. It had crap in it that looked something like when you clean the drain in your tub. Lol, Now we have good fuel pressure and something else has popped up. Our TH 400 lags during shifts, we shift at 6500, but the tach goes up to 6800 even to 7000. On the return road it shifts as soon as we pull the lever, but seems to take its own sweet time during a run. Fluid level is where it should be, color is still red with no burnt smell. All the linkage is where is should be, no slop and no binding. The trans was rebuilt spring of 2011 with all good parts, Red alco clutches, etc. Anyone have this problem? I suppose all will say i should pull the pan and change the filter. I just hope thats all it needs, If anyone has suggestions I'd sure like to hear them. Thanks again for all your input. Bob
