nobody? cars goin in for paint tomorrow. debating if i should just have them plug the holes or not. id love to keep the strips but if i cant find the rubber strip that goes inside it then keeping it isnt much of an option.

I'd have them fill the holes either way. If you end up finding it later, you simply drill the holes out and install them. Wont stall the paint job in the meantime.

You can try to contact a body shop in your area and see who they get them from. The rubber part comes in a roll that is cut to fit and wil slide into channed then you cap the end off with a chrome end piece. This type of moulding has not been used for years (early 80's) so I dont know if it can still be found. When it was available it came in many different colors. In the mid 80's most cars used an adheasive moulding that was very similar in appearance, but required no holes to be drilled into the body to prevent corrosion. if all else fails try a restoration place like Year One or Classic Industries.

well, mine was complete just the rubber insert was broken on the door piece and its all sun baked. i pulled it all off and the rubber insert was a silver. the aluminum housing and end caps will be painted black and riveted back on (factory holes are still there). i know its a factory because the surround of them are painted with the factory paint as well, not drilled after the paint was on. ive asked a ton of body shops and nobody knows where to get it. i asked a guy who does custom cars and he pointed me to a place who he said can either find the exact part or something close enough.

oh, and year one and classic industries dont have them. they just have the lower ones from the earlier years and the all plastic ones from the later years.
