should i swap trans and rear or wait?
The 10 bolt is stonger than most people think. I ran one in a 4K ElCamino with a 454 and 3.73's at the drag strip with slicks and never broke. I wouldn't use a trans break and that big block though. Foot brake keeps everything in the drive line tight so nothing get shocked when you leave. I've seen trans breaks destroy 12 bolts which is why I run a 9" in my drag car. On the street your just going to spin the tires before you brake a 10 bolt. ( if it's built right ) A stronger drive shaft with stronger u-joints is cheap insurance and a loop for sure.
Damn! i had already planned on finishing the 468 and then getting the trans and using my stock 8.5" for now then rebuilding it. but i found a 2nd gen camaro 12 bolt with new eaton posi, 33 spline axles, new 4.11 gears and girdle for only $1300. It also has ford housing ends already on it. It would be cheaper than to rebuild my 8.5" 10 bolt. The 4.11 gears would be too low since i wouldn't have my OD trans yet. Think i should pass up this great deal and still get the trans instead?

personaly i would wait till it was all done and then do it at the same time that way its a whole new beast and as far as changing trans alone its not to difficult ive done 3 in my old 81 by myself took bout 3 hours but its definttly more physicly demanding than swapping it with the motor

and i figured i could just replace the trans or rear when its time pretty easily. I'm not sure now if i should get that good deal on the 12 bolt or still get the trans first. i was going to get the trans but saw that and gonna have trouble passing it up. I know the stock 350 with shift kit will probably fail before the stock rear but it's such a good deal. Maybe the stock trans won't fail if i take it easy. what do you guys think i should do?
